I'm Caleb Tao—a creator and observer navigating the space in between. Born in China, shaped in Canada, I’ve built a life around making: music, images, stories, and meaning.

 

I’ve spent the past decade navigating the spaces between cultures, languages, and disciplines. That in-betweenness is not just a circumstance—it’s a creative state. Whether I’m writing a song, mixing audio, capturing light through a lens, or translating an idea across mediums or borders, I’m always looking for meaning in the margins.

As a singer-songwriter, I compose, write, and produce original music—carving out sonic spaces that are raw, reflective, and grounded in lived experience. My work as a visual creator spans photography, design, and film editing, often exploring the interplay between memory, mood, and identity.

I’m also a trained academic with a background in communication and culture. My MA research examined how the modular structure of social media platforms shapes cultural participation, drawing on theories from British cultural studies and the evolving landscape of digital media.
