A sonic escape into an imagined utopia, Cheering Beach paints a world free from pressure, where joy is shared and no one owns more than another.

Single: 景观世界 (World of Spectacle), 2023
Inspired by French philosopher Guy Debord’s The Society of the Spectacle (1967), this song reflects on the challenges of modern life under capitalism—where mediated images replace direct experiences, and individuals become spectators of their own lives.
In World of Spectacle, Caleb Tao draws on Debord’s critique to explore how contemporary society continues to evolve along those same patterns, often pushing people into passive acceptance of change and disconnection.

Through this piece, Caleb questions the invisible dependencies we form with media and technology—and calls for a return to something internal, spiritual, and non-material. It’s a reflection, and perhaps a quiet resistance, urging listeners to seek meaning beyond the surface of the world we’re asked to accept.

Album: Port Royal Trail, 2022
Port Royal Trail is a reflective journey through songs written between 2018 and 2022—a winding path of personal growth, shifting emotions, and musical exploration. Across this collection, Caleb Tao weaves together diverse sounds and perspectives, capturing fragments of life as they unfolded over time.

From the resilient spirit of “The Longest Winter”, written during the height of the pandemic, to the heartfelt intimacy of “Honey, Do You Know”, a love letter to a future shared life, each track carries its own emotional weather. Songs like “Stuck in Between”, “Grasping Memories”, and “Grass Beneath the Dust” (translated titles) invite listeners to sit with loss, uncertainty, and quiet hope.

More than just a compilation, Port Royal Trail feels like a musical diary—filled with shifting rhythms, inner conversations, and moments of clarity. It's a body of work that walks the line between past and future, solitude and connection, offering something deeply personal yet universally resonant.

Single: Stuck In Between, 2021
Stuck in Between marks a turning point in Caleb Tao’s creative path—both musically and personally. Funky, groovy, and rhythmically alive, the track contrasts its upbeat sound with an undercurrent of introspection. Beneath the playful basslines and smooth vocal flow lies a deeper tension: the search for self in the space between cultures, identities, and expectations.

Written during a time of reflection on belonging and dislocation, the song captures the emotional blur of living “in between”—between East and West, between presence and absence, between who you are and who you're told to be. It’s the first sonic expression of the ambivalence that would later define Caleb’s ongoing artistic exploration.
